Scott Cook joined the faculty of the University of North Texas in 1986. Prior to coming to Denton, he worked as a professional audio engineer, musician, music producer, videographer, production manager, media services manager, writer, and television director. He began his work at UNT with the goal of creating one of the first campus cable television organizations in the nation. During the next 20 years, NTTV-North Texas Television grew to become one of the top student-run cable television channels in the United States. NTTV has won awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Broadcast Education Association, the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, the Southwestern Journalism Congress, among others. During this time he also served as the RTVF department Production Manager and as the Faculty Undergraduate Student Advisor.

In his role as NTTV Faculty Advisor and Manager he was the Executive Producer, Producer, or Director for hundreds of television programs. Since leaving NTTV in 2004, Mr. Cook has been teaching in the department as a full-time Lecturer.

He has taught a wide variety of production courses for the department and currently teaches courses in television studio production and writing. He has participated in numerous conference panels at the annual Broadcast Education Association and the College Media Advisors Conventions and has served as a juror for a number of video festival competitions.

Mr. Cook holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Broadcast-Film from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Science in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas.
