Mark Dobson has been involved with the UNT RTVF department in one way or another since he transferred to the university as an undergraduate in 1999. He worked as a volunteer and later as a student staff member at NTTV, the campus’ student-run television station from 1999-2001. He also worked briefly as a DJ at KNTU, the campus’ radio station, before graduation.
His first job out of college was working as the Video Technician/Producer for DTV, the City of Denton’s government access station. While there, he earned numerous awards in state and national competitions for his video productions. All the while, Mark made a point to keep in touch with those at UNT who had been instrumental in his professional development. That paid off in the summer of 2005, when a position opened up in the RTVF department.
In addition to being the Media Services Coordinator for the RTVF department, Mark also freelances as a videographer/editor for 1st Take Video, the company he formed in spring 2005.
He earned his BA in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas in 2001.
