When are Graduate applications reviewed for admission?
For the fall term review of applications begins in December of each year. To be assured of consideration for admittance for the fall term materials should reach us by mid-March. Please keep in mind that slots available for new students could be filled before that date, so the earlier you apply, the better. Decisions for graduate assistantships are typically made in March or April for the following fall semester. The graduate school accepts applications through mid-July, but our program is usually full well in advance of that date.

Can I complete a minor while working on my graduate degree?
Completing a minor within the program is optional. A minor consists of at least 6 credit hours taken in another department. A student cannot complete three hours in one department and three hours in another to constitute a minor.

What do graduates of the MFA program do?
Those obtaining this degree will typically move on to pursue careers teaching at the university level and/or work in documentary production as an independent producer, in a position with a production company, or in some other aspect of nonfiction industry.
